In the Swiss finance sector, considerable importance is attached to asset management.
The amount of wealth under management in Switzerland is estimated at 5 trillion Swiss
francs (cf. issue 02/2007 of Neue Zürcher Zeitung). Though the offerings of favorable
passive products are on the rise, there continues to be a demand for traditional active
management in selected niche products.

Alternative investments, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate and commodities,
have seen substantial growth during the past couple of years.

At the international level, Switzerland takes a leading role in the fund of funds business.
